Hugo C. A. Fromm. A small commission business now being wound up. Garrels Borner & Cɗo. successors to E. Meyer & Co. who formerly did a very large business throughout the Far East, but red ently failed. This firm was placed in the hands of Mr.W.G.Worcester

as liquidator, brother-in-law to Mr. C. Schroter, the senior

local partner now resident in Shanghai. Mr. Worcester started

a firm called W. G. Worcester & Co. to carry on the firm's

business.

C. J. Gaupp & Op. Watchmakers, Jewellers and agents for nau-

tical instruments. This firm represented Messrs. Mappin & Webb.

The liquidators endeavoured to disrose of this business with the stock as a going dono ars hut this was objected to by the resident partner now in the prisoners camp, who considered the price offered too low, The stock is now gradually being cleared off by order of the Government.

Hamburg Amerika Linie. No liquidators were appointed for this firm as they had practically no property in the Colony but a little office furniture.

Jebsen & Co.

Agents for the Jebsen Line of Steamers. This is a wealthy firm and had large stooks on hand. These are now being disposed of but already £19000 cash in hands of the liquidators have been taken by the Government and invested in the new war loan.

An intercepted letter from Mr. Jebsen to his former Manager is of a very optimistio character. In it he regrets the temporary cessation of business but speaks hopefully of their being able to resume on the conclusion of the war and mentions the fact that they have such large accumulations of funds in various banks.

The Engineers firm of Messrs. Ülderup & Schulter in Rongkong is a branch of Jebsen & Co. and run by an Employee of theirs. This business is bankrupt and the liquidators are now endeavouring to obtain funds from Jebsen's account to balance

the books.
